GREEN‑LOOP wrap‑up: Pioneering Sustainable Materials & Circular Value Chains in Europe

As the GREEN‑LOOP project reaches its successful conclusion, we’re proud to look back at three years of innovation, collaboration, and strong progress towards a greener, more circular bioeconomy in the EU.

Launched in 2022 and closing in 2025, GREEN‑LOOP has focused on designing, optimising and demonstrating bio‑based materials that can replace traditional fossil‑based counterparts in key industrial sectors.

Throughout the project, partners hosted multiple workshops and events, bringing together researchers, industry stakeholders and sustainability advocates to share insights and discuss real‑world applications.

Highlights include external workshops on bio‑plastic formulation, wood composites innovation, and bio‑rubber panels for sustainable construction — strengthening dialogue on circular materials and their industrial potential.

GREEN‑LOOP also took part in major international events such as the European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (EUBCE) 2025, showcasing its breakthroughs in bio‑rubber, bio‑plastic, and wood composite technologies and reinforcing the EU’s transition to sustainable manufacturing.

Another key achievement was the development of the GREEN‑LOOP Digital Platform, a cutting‑edge tool enabling data integration and real‑time evaluation of circular value chains. The platform supports environmental performance analysis, life cycle assessment (LCA), and business optimisation — empowering stakeholders to make informed, sustainable decisions.

From raw material sourcing to end‑of‑life reuse and recyclability, GREEN‑LOOP has demonstrated that circular approaches to advanced bio‑based materials are feasible, scalable, and impactful.

A big thank you to all project partners, stakeholders, and communities who contributed to this inspiring journey.

The learnings and innovations developed here will continue to fuel the transformation towards a more sustainable and resilient European industry.
