CONTRIBUTION TO TOPIC IMPACT
- Demonstrate relevant scale production of innovative bio-based products to substitute traditional materials with high environmental footprint
- Develop products with similar or better mechanical, physical and chemical properties, while having a substantially lower environmental footprint and being sustainable, non-toxic and recyclable when compared to non-bio-based materials
CONTRIBUTION TO DESTINATION IMPACT
- Accelerate the twin green and digital transition
- Create a new green, flexible and digital way for value chain
- Make safe and health the jobs of people working in the manufacturing sector
- Set out a credible pathway to contributing to climate neutrality
- Increase productivity, innovation capacity, resilience, sustainability and global competitiveness
- Contribute to a substantial reduction of waste and CO2 emissions
ECONOMIC and TECNOLOGICAL IMPACT
GREEN-LOOP will produce profitable solutions some of which are planned to be commercialised and the project innovation has a relevant market potential estimated to grow between 12% – 50% until 2025-2030. It will also create more and better jobs and provide ad-hoc and topic targeted trainings.
SOCIETAL IMPACT
GREEN-LOOP will support several EU policy priorities, contribute to circular economy action plan and Blue Economy, to the SDGs, will make its R&I results work for society by incorporating strategies such as gender and sex dimension empowerment in the research process and in science knowledge-making, by engaging stakeholders, end-users and citizens to the co-creation of R&I content through its Communication Plan.
SCIENTIFIC IMPACT
The project represents a forum for fruitful discussions, debates and scientific efforts to transform the gaps and ambitions in high-quality new knowledge. GREEN-LOOP will ensure open access to the deposited publication via the repository to the bibliographic metadata to be more efficient, transparent, and responsive to societal challenges aligned with EC´s goals on open science. The Communication & Dissemination plan will describe how the project results will be available to EU industry and academia.
SOCIAL IMPACT
- Reduction of the ethical concerns related to the use of biomaterials fabricated from artificial substances including metals, polymers, and ceramics
- Better understanding from the society about the role of the GREEN-LOOP bio-based materials’ manufacturing towards climate neutrality by 2050
- New rules and regulations for manufacturing processes
- More than 415 jobs created in long term
ENVIROMENTAL IMPACT
- Increase the usability of materials and products by including approaches for reuse, recycle and refurbish
- Promoting circular value chains to enhance the sources of raw materials and closing loops
- Retrofit and enhancement equipment leading to a reduction of 20-30% in CO2 emissions
SCIENTIFIC IMPACT
- Increase the development of bio-based materials
- Creating new knowledge in manufacturing tools and equipment
- Generating know-how through exploitation and dissemination plan
- High use of the scientific discovery in Open Science
